MAPublisher 8.3 Presentation, Stanfords Award, & Post Locator

This was released in the last couple of months and if you are a MAPublisher Maintenance subscriber and have not already done so you should visit www.avenza.com and use your password to download it.

A large number of you either are using MAPublisher or have considered it.  We have just loaded onto the web site a step by step presentation that illustrates how MAPublisher works and also many of the new features.  Just go here to take the tour. It will take a couple of minutes and we strongly suggest you follow the instructions on the page and switch to full screen mode before you start the show.

The “Prezi” may be off the bottom of your window so please scroll down slightly!

At the recent British Cartographic Society conference we were also delighted to win the Stanfords Award for best published map 2010.  This was for our Inner London Postcode Sector map Sheet 22.  It was good to win since at least one of the other entrants was the direct equivalent from one of our main competitors!  Also, this map used the People’s Map London 1:12,000 raster image data in the background, which itself won the International Map Trade Association Silver Award for Best Digital Data Product 2010 back in February.

You can see the details of the Award here:

We have taken advantage of OS Open data to create a new cheaper alternative to the Royal Mail PostZon ™ data.  This has been one of our best sellers and is widely used for geocoding address lists.  The new product is called Post Locator and is just £195 Single User on a perpetual licence.  We provide it in a choice of GIS formats (.shp, MapInfo, etc), with both Lat / Long and National Grid co-ordinates, and with all the full names of wards, local authorities, etc. See here for more details:
